28th annual Sheshegwaning powwow is on this weekend

SHESHEGWANING—The 28th annual Sheshegwaning First Nation powwow will be taking place this weekend with the theme, ‘Honouring Our Elders.’

Grand entry for the powwow will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, September 13 and 12 pm on Sunday, September 14.  

Master of ceremonies will be Greg “the Goose” Sutherland while the arena director for the powwow will be Duffy Wemigwans.

Head Dancers will include Gwewin Migwans and Craig Fox, with Will Morin the head veteran.

Chi Gizis is hosting drum for the weekend.

No vendor fees are being charged for the powwow and all vendors are invited to participate.

A raffle draw will take place on Sunday with first prize being $3,000, second prize being $2,000 and third prize of $1,000.

A community breakfast will take place both Saturday and Sunday mornings, while a community dinner will be held Saturday evening.
