MTO brushing is underway on Manitoulin

MANITOULIN—The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has confirmed that brushing work on the sides of Manitoulin Island highways will continue later this summer.

“Our maintenance contractors carry out brushing work every year and as part of those ongoing maintenance efforts, brushing work on Manitoulin Island began last month and includes section of Highways 6, 540, 542 and 551,” said Tanya Blazina, senior media relations with MTO on Thursday of last week. “Additional brushing is scheduled on sections of Highways 6, 522 and 542.”

This comes after The Expositor had received an email from an Island resident recently indicating that, “ministries, towns, etc. have allowed no maintenance or untimely maintenance to make driving on Manitoulin a dangerous situation.”
