PROVIDENCE BAY—Providence Bay opened the curling bonspiel season the last weekend of November, hosting eight teams from across the Island.
The first event winners were Marc Addison, Gary Gilpin, Ian MacLeod and Randy Skippen, who were victorious over the Jack Ferguson foursome with Ray Beaudin skipping.
The second event title went to the David McDermid rink which included Robert McDermid, Mike Johnston and Gord McDermid. They defeated the Norm Jones rink.
The third event was won by the team made up of Harold and Shirley Dewar with Chuck and Carolyn Mattice, who were triumphant over the Marc Lefebvre team.
The fourth event went to the rink which included Oliver Koski, Dave Henderson, Kari Viljanmaa and Adrien Patoine who made a strong comeback to defeat the Barb Sheppard rink.
