SUDBURY—Rainbow District School Board (RDSB) trustee David Farrow was acclaimed to a third team as chair during the board’s organizational meeting held November 18. Trustee Alex McCauley was acclaimed to a second term as vice-chair of the board. Members on board standing committees were also approved.
Mr. Farrow thanked his colleagues on the board for their vote of confidence. “It is an honour for me to serve as chair of the Rainbow District School Board,” he said, “Together, we have made significant progress on our priorities and have much to celebrate. Staff, students, and schools continue to make us proud each and every day.”
“We will remain purposeful and intentional in our governance role as we focus on student achievement and well-being,” said Mr. Farrow. “When we put students at the centre of decision-making, we give them every opportunity to achieve their full potential as confident, caring members of society.”

David Farrow joined the board in the fall of 2022 as the trustee in area one which encompasses wards one and two in the City of Greater Sudbury. An educator and administrator with the board for 30 years, he has long been a champion for children.
Mr. Farrow was appointed a school administrator following 15 years in the classroom. He served as a principal with RDSB from 2000 to his retirement in 2018.
Trustee Alex McCauley was selected to fill the trustee vacancy on the board in the fall of 2023. He has worked in many positions of progressive responsibility, ending his career with the Greater Sudbury Police Service in an executive leadership role as police chief.
“I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board as we continue to support staff and students in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin,” said vice-chair McCauley. “It is an honour to serve, and I welcome the opportunity to give back in this leadership role.”
“Our administrators, educators and support staff are doing amazing work as instructional leaders, mentors and role models. We are also engaging parents/guardians and members of the community as partners in education. When we work together, we make great things happen for students,” said Mr. McCauley. He serves as trustee in area four which encompasses wards 7 and 8 of the City of Greater Sudbury as well as the municipalities of Killarney, French River, Markstay-Warren, St. Charles, and the unorganized townships of Burwash, Cox, Davis, Eden, Hawley, Hendrie, Henry, Janes, Laura, Loughrin, Secord, Servos, Street and Tilton.
Manitoulin Island trustees who will serve on RDSB standing committees include: trustee Lisa Corbiere-Addison on the audit, First Nation Advisory committee, special education advisory committee. Trustee Linda Debassige will serve on the First Nation advisory and strategic planning committees.
