The Island needs tourism to survive
To The Expositor:
Re tree cutting on North Channel.
In my opinion the trimming of the trees does add to the beauty of the channel for patrons of the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre and its restaurant. The boat traffic and hotel visitors certainly add to the revenue for the Island. They aren’t travelling off Island to purchase their goods.
As for damaging the trail, it should be less dangerous. It will dry quicker and there would be less chance of lawsuits. I pushed to have this cleared, it is so peaceful watching a sunset or boat traffic passing through the bridge. The Island needs the tourist to survive. Let’s keep it beautiful and clean.
