Island Quilters Guild welcome Jill Thorpe home

MINDEMOYA—Jill Thorpe will be returning to her roots this month to feature many of her quilts and garments at a Trunk Show for the Island Quilters on Thursday, May 19, and all are invited to attend.

Ms. Thorpe joined the guild early after its inception 20 years ago and was an active member until she and her husband Steve moved to Stratford 10 years ago. Since moving to Stratford, Jill has been active in the Heron Perth Quilt Guild and the Stratford Quilt Club.

Ms. Thorpe was the Grand Champion quilter at the Providence Bay Fair many times and continues to enter fair competition at Stratford. In 2014, her quilt was Grand Champion at the Stratford Fair, regionally and finally at OASS convention at the Royal York. Ms. Thorpe was recently commissioned by the Emmanuel United Church in Sebringville to make a wallhanging depicting their church building.

Many family and friends are fortunate to own some of Ms. Thorpe’s creations.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy this Trunk Show at the Mindemoya Community Hall at 7 pm on Thursday, May 19. The cost to non-members is $5.
