Wiikwemkoong couple attends World Series Game 2…in different jerseys

TORONTO—Wiikwemkoong’s Jason Manitowabi and Destinee Kaboni, both ardent ball fans, had the opportunity to take in Game 2 of the World Series at the Rogers Centre Saturday night. However, the pair appeared in rival jerseys as Mr. Manitowabi is a Jays fan and Ms. Kaboni is a Dodgers girl.

“It was really a special moment,” Mr. Manitowabi told The Expositor. “We joked about having our teams meet up in the World Series and how rare but amazing that would be. The entire Canadian Team vs USA team thing and the fact that Vladdy (Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Jays first baseman) was born in Canada.”’

When asked how this rivalry was affecting the couple’s relationship Mr. Manitowabi responded, “I would say this makes our relationship stronger. Game 1, I was happy, she was supportive. Game 2, she was happy, I was supportive! An amazing experience that we realize could very well not happen for a long time!”

Ms. Kaboni  quipped, however, that “the silence was so loud when Will Smith hit that home run!”
